Ingredients
Method
- Prepare the Batter
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan and line it with parchment paper.
- Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla and buttermilk.
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and gently stir until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Bake the Brownie Bread
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Allow the loaf to cool in the pan for about 15 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack.
- Make the Hot Fudge Topping
- Add the chocolate chips, heavy cream, and butter to a small saucepan over low heat.
- Stir until completely melted and smooth.
- Remove from the heat and stir in the powdered sugar and vanilla.
- Allow the fudge topping to cool for a couple of minutes until slightly thickened.
- Pour the warm fudge topping over the brownie bread.
- Slice and serve.
Notes
- Don't overbake: A few moist crumbs on the toothpick are ideal for a fudgy texture.
- Allow the loaf to cool before slicing for cleaner pieces.
- For an extra-indulgent dessert, warm individual slices for 10–15 seconds and serve with vanilla ice cream.
- Add ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts for extra crunch.
