Ingredients
Method
- Prepare the Oven
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
- Mash the Bananas
- Mash the ripe bananas in a large bowl until mostly smooth, leaving a few small lumps for texture.
- Mix the Wet Ingredients
- Stir the melted butter into the mashed bananas. Add the sugar, egg, and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
- Add the Dry IngredientsMix in the baking soda and salt. Fold in the flour gently until no dry streaks remain. Do not overmix.
- Add Optional Mix-Ins
- Fold in the chopped walnuts, pecans, or chocolate chips if using.
- Bake
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool & Serve
- Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
Notes
- Use bananas with heavily spotted or black peels for the sweetest flavor.
- Avoid overmixing the batter to keep the loaf soft and tender.
- Tent the loaf with foil during the last 15 minutes if it browns too quickly.
- Add a sprinkle of coarse sugar on top before baking for a bakery-style finish.
