Ingredients
Method
- Unwrap the mozzarella sticks and place them on a plate. Freeze for at least 30–45 minutes — this keeps the cheese from melting out too quickly during cooking.
- Once frozen, wrap each mozzarella stick in a slice of bacon, overlapping the ends so it stays secure while cooking.
- Set up a breading station with three shallow bowls: flour in the first, beaten eggs in the second, and a mixture of breadcrumbs, Parmesan, garlic powder, paprika, and black pepper in the third.
- Roll each bacon-wrapped stick in flour and shake off the excess. Dip into the egg, then coat thoroughly in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently so it sticks. For extra crunch, repeat the egg and breadcrumb steps a second time.
- Return the breaded sticks to the freezer for 15–20 minutes to help the coating set and prevent cheese leaks.
- Cook using one of the following methods: bake at 400°F (200°C) for 18–22 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crispy; air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 10–12 minutes, flipping after 5 minutes; or pan-fry in oil over medium heat until evenly browned on all sides.
- Let cool for a minute, then garnish with chopped parsley or chives and serve hot with your preferred dipping sauce.
Notes
Don't skip the freezing steps — they're essential for keeping the cheese from leaking out during cooking
Use medium-cut bacon rather than thin-cut, since thin bacon can burn before the cheese fully melts
Serve immediately while hot and fresh for the best texture
Double-coat in egg and breadcrumbs for an extra-crunchy shell
